What guides us

Values with purpose.

More than words on a page, they shape how we lead, serve, and show up for one another.

Built for life

Becoming better men, together.

Phi Deuteron is grounded in the belief that brotherhood should ask something of us. It should challenge us to take responsibility, care for our community, honor our Jewish heritage, and leave the chapter stronger than we found it.

These values are not reserved for meetings or ceremonies. They guide the choices we make on campus, in the chapter house, and long after graduation.

What guides us

Four values. One standard.

Each one reinforces the others, creating a chapter culture built on trust, accountability, and purpose.

01Show up

Brotherhood

Brotherhood means being present. Present in the celebrations, the hard conversations, and the ordinary moments that become lifelong memories.

Connection · Loyalty · Support
02Step forward

Leadership

Leadership is learned by doing. Brothers earn trust, make decisions, mentor others, and take responsibility for the results.

Character · Accountability · Growth
03Give back

Service & Tzedakah

We put care into action through service and charitable giving that strengthen Kent State, the Kent community, and causes larger than ourselves.

Generosity · Action · Community
04Carry it forward

Jewish Identity

Our Jewish heritage gives the brotherhood roots: a tradition of learning, resilience, responsibility, and dignity for every person.

Tradition · Respect · Perseverance

The larger mission

Developing leadership for the Jewish community.

At Phi Deuteron, that international mission becomes local: brothers learning to lead with confidence, live with character, and contribute wherever they go next.

Values in practice

The standard is what we do.

  1. 01

    For one another

Build real relationships, make room for honest conversation, and be the brother others can count on.

  2. 02

    For our community

Use our time, energy, and influence to serve Kent State and the wider Kent community.

  3. 03

    For what comes next

Develop the judgment and confidence to lead in our careers, our families, and the Jewish community.
